Bangladesh is now emerging as a potential hub for the automobile sector in South Asia. Having reached that position, the country is experiencing massive sales of automobiles of both foreign and local brands. India, the fifth largest economy in the world, has seen this opportunity, and the automobile manufacturers in the country have started to gain their foothold in Bangladesh.
Most of the automobile manufacturers, including Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, and some other renowned Indian auto manufacturers, have invested quite heavily in the automobile market of Bangladesh. Moreover, they want to make Bangladesh the new hub for the automobile sector in South East Asia.
Seeing the situation like this, when the Bangladesh Government floated the truck tender, Ashok Leyland seized the opportunity and grabbed its first seats in the heavy automobile market of the country.
This will prove beneficial not only for Ashok Leyland but also for Bangladesh’s economy. The boom in the automobile sector of Bangladesh is improving and increasing the growth rate of the developing economy.
Talking about Ashok Leyland they are one of the leading commercial vehicle brands in Bangladesh, and its portfolio includes trucks, SUVs, buses, and LCV vehicles, all are locally manufactured in the Dharma plant in Bangladesh.
Looking at the automobile market in Bangladesh, it is clear that this year sales of locally manufactured vehicles have been high, and demand for locally manufactured vehicles has been increasing drastically, which is also helping the economy recover from the long lockdown period.
During the pandemic, car sales were hit worst in the sector, and the long lockdowns reduced the demand for trucks and buses since both the industries and the cities were under intense lockdown, making it difficult to ride or go anywhere.
However, when the lockdown was lifted, the economy started a slow recovery, and now, in the present, it is entering a stable growth period, and the automobile sector is no exception.
